Ever since I saw a landscape photograph of shark fin cove in Davenport California, Just outside of Santa Cruz; I knew that I wanted to shoot an engagement session there. Maddy had contacted me a few months back and said she wanted to do an engagement session sometime in the fall but was not sure where to go. I listed off a couple of cool places all of them were a couple hours of drive time. She said the local sounded better, but an epic spot would be better for photographs. I said we should go to Shark Fin Cove in Davenport. She googled the location and fell in love. We set the date right before Thanksgiving, it had just rained and there were massive waves crashing against then rocks. We started about 3 hours before sunset. A hour into it I had then right on the edge of the rocks where the water was crashing into the rocks making huge splashes. I put some of my equipment on higher ground but I under estimated the oceans power. A massive wave came in crashing and taking my Pro Foto B2 light and also got my backup camera canon 6d wet which did some major damage. It was well worth it because we got some amazing romantic engagement photographs.
